Josh told Teresa and Baz the story of Tembe. Baz thought the word Siparti rang a bell and Teresa remined them about the family curse. The Gippart clan is jinxed by the curse of Siparti.

Chpt 7 - A Chink In Time

Teresa and Baz come one by one to persuade Josh to return to Gippart to no avail. In the end, it was his pet parrot, Dara, who made him want to go back to Gippart. Dara was lonely without Zizi. Back at Gippart, Moussa warned them not to violate the rules anymore. Josh then told Moussa, Baz and Teresa that Spratt was after his snake bracelet, which was why his things was stolen and his room was ransacked. Baz sensed that the bracelet was neither from the time they were in nor from umaya. It was from the past. Moussa concluded that this was why Gippart wanted him. They thought he could time-travel. They then went for their imayadas, this time with Garnet. In imayadas, time is different as compared to in reality. They decided to head towards Tembe, who are fond of birds. They decided to take a short cut through Trellis. Trellis is part of an archipelago, the Skirides, known as the bird islands. As they went around looking for a boat to ferry them to the islands, they realize that this is a nice umaya. As they asked sailors to ferry them across, they were turned down as none of the sailors dared to go near the island. Finally, they found one who was willing to but at a high price and also swimming to the island from some distance away. Josh and Baz made a fire with Josh's compass he had chosen from Gippart as an Associate. The compass kept pointing north with a beam of light and can be adjusted to produce heat. Baz had chosen a solidifying pen. After a while, they realized that the ground was shaking. A man appeared and told them that they've upset the equilibrium because this island is right on top of a fault line. Part of it may cave in, a volcano may erupt, autumn can turn into spring and butterflies can turn back into caterpillars at the slightest provocation. Teresa say that this may be what call the chink in time at Gippart. Garnet, accompanied by Spratt who looked terribly sick, tried to force them to time-travelling, again.
